3. A win for France at the World Butcher’s Challenge!
2025 World Butchers’ Challenge (WBC) once again raised the bar for global meat industry excellence, bringing together 16 national teams and hundreds of industry stakeholders for a dynamic celebration of skill, innovation and cultural exchange. Set against the rich culinary backdrop of Paris, this year’s event showcased exceptional talent while reinforcing the growing spirit of international collaboration and pride within the butchery profession. France carved its name into WBC history, claiming gold on home soil at the ninth edition of the competition (Read more on page 3)

The latest in this watching brief topic is that carbon labelling of red meat in Europe is still undergoing significant changes due to increasing consumer demand for transparency and the European Union's efforts to combat greenwashing. The proposed EU Green Claims Directive mandates that environmental claims, such as "climate-friendly" or "carbon neutral," must be substantiated with robust, science-based evidence and verified by accredited third parties.
